Move Over 2

 This is Colleen's Move Over quilt.    It got the Modern Maze#2 pantograph on it.  It's an intricate panto, perfect on this quilt. 

 

 It's funny (to me, because I don't know much about photography) how minkee photographs.  This is a lovely charcoal minkee on the back. 

Quilts of Valour - Stars

 Quilts of Valour   is an organization I try to do at least one quilt a year for.  I think they're doing such a great thing with these quilts.  And the local Calgary chapter is a pleasure to quilt for--the quilts come well prepared, with ample backing and batting. 

 I love the colors in this one. 

Canadian Quarter Sections

 This sweet baby quilt is Quarter Sections, a Highway 10 designs pattern.  I sure love their patterns, so easy to follow.   Alice pieced this one. 

 I modify the pattern to use 6 Fat Quarters, giving me 18 blocks, and I don't add a border, it's just the right size for a baby quilt.  Very little waste from the 6 FQ. 

We picked up this great Canadian fabric at Sugar Pine 
 I love the tree stumps.  

Antique Replica

 

This is Heather's amazing quilt.  It's a replica of an antique quilt they had seen at the Alberta Quilt Study Society.  someone had brought it in to a documentation day.    The center is hand-pieced and then there is machine piecing.  The original was in silks.  

The center of this quilt reminds me of a Chinese Checkers game board.

 This quilt got edge to edge freehand feathers to give it a nice even texture.

Heather used so many fun fabrics in this quilt.

Cake Walk

mmm.....now I want cake.     This vibrant quilt is Noreen's, and I'm pretty sure the pattern is called Cake Walk. 

 To say something is a cake walk is to say that it is easy.  I think in the case of this pattern, it also refers to using 10" squares of fabric, or a "layer cake".

 I have also experienced a cake walk as a type of fundraiser (usually for the youth in our church), where you buy tickets to participate in a musical chairs variation, and win a cake at the end! 

Hearts

I thought this was a great quilt to share for the week of February 14.

Dana brought in this cute little baby quilt, and I gave it this light custom quilting.

 The backing Dana brought it was a soft pink (not properly shown in my photo), oh so soft ribbed fabric, I could have just petted it all day.   I
