Avignon Picnic - #3

Ethel made this quilt for her grandson.  She had seen the one I made for my son --Picnic in the Rockies and wanted this quilt for her grandson to be very similar.

He chose the colours.  The tan really is more tan than it shows in the photos.    I used different fills and different black centers than on my Picnic in the Rockies quilt.  I think this rust fabric looks a little like flames.

and I used diamonds in the black centers, rather than straight lines.  Some dot to dot Angela Walters style diamonds.

The backing was a black dotted minkee, and I was a little worried about how it would work with denser quilting designs, but it looked great!

and obviously I should have spent a little more time with a lint roller before taking photos, but really, until the binding is on, it's a bit of a lost cause I find.

  2. Wow Michelle, you really did a wonderful variety of quilting on this beauty. I bet your customer was soooooo pleased! It's so interesting how this pattern can look absolutely different with just changing the fabrics.
