Pansies

This quilt is such a beautiful floral quilt.  Ethel purchased it as a kit from one of the US mail order places (Connecting Threads or Keepsake quilting--not sure which).

It's a pretty special quilt, which she is keeping for herself, so we decided on custom quilting.

Those 60/30 angles can be challenging, so the points are not all perfect, and I wanted the quilting to take away from that (so if it worked, you didn't notice that the points weren't perfect until I just pointed it out )

The 'pre-quilting' photo that I have is actually an in-progress piecing photo before the borders were added
My camera sometimes reads more blue than the fabrics are--the photo above shows the purples better.   If you're seeing blue--just imagine it to be purple, there are no blues in this quilt in real life.
And other than to say that I was really pleased with how the quilt turned out, I'll let the rest of the photos speak for themselves.

Another of our quilting friends bought this kit at the same time, and she is going to hand-quilt hers.  I'm looking forward to seeing how that turns out  I love how you can take the same quilt and make it look so different.

oh--and I checked with the piecer before I pointed out the imperfect points--she didn't mind my saying so in public, so to speak

  1. Love the quilting! I am piecing an Asteria Quilt from a Craftsy class that has some of the same blocks. I will have to work on my feathering techniques before I tackle the quilting. LOL Many thanks for posting your photos.
