Simplicity #9

As you can tell by the blog title, this being the 9th quilt of this pattern I've quilted, it's a great pattern, Simplicity by Cozy Quilt Designs.    This was a neat one to quilt, because it is laid out as the pattern calls for, which I haven't seen since maybe quilt #1.   That's part of what makes it a great pattern--is you can play with the block layout.

I love this angled shot--you can see how carefully Bobbie laid out her fabrics--getting diagonals of the same fabrics.  It adds a really neat dimension to the quilt.  The pattern calls for jelly rolls, but Bobbie used yardage, a mixture of batik and printed cotton, and cut it into 2 1/2" strips.
Bobbie asked for straight line quilting, so I quilted a random sized modern square spiral, which gives a great texture to this quilt.

This is a very heavy quilt, as Bobbie put this minkee on the back, and it is heavy on a quilt this large.
